School Accreditation - WASC Home

WASC Mission

ACS WASC advances and validates quality ongoing school improvement by supporting its private and public elementary, secondary, and postsecondary member institutions to engage in a rigorous and relevant self-evaluation and peer review process that focuses on equity, inclusion, and access to high-level, rigorous learning opportunities for all students.

Purpose of Accreditation

A diploma represents evidence of learning. In order to confirm the value of that learning, Central Union High School completes a process known as accreditation, in which an outside independent team or agency works with a school's leaders to help it examine and evaluate its work.

Why does Accreditation Matter?

Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is the accrediting body that confirms CUHS programs and curricula meet the standards of educational attainment. Accreditation validates our transcripts and ensures our students will be eligible for acceptance to 4-year colleges and universities.
